When and why Lincoln rents restrooms
Game days and tailgates. Husker home football games bring huge crowds to Lincoln in the fall. Tailgate lots, watch parties and fan events around campus and downtown all add to demand, and providers are busy on those weekends. If your private event shares a date with a home game, book well ahead and plan delivery around traffic.
Parks and festivals. Lincoln has an extensive park and trail system that hosts charity walks, corporate picnics, concerts and cultural festivals from spring through fall. Downtown and the Haymarket host street events through the warm months.
County fair and agricultural events. The Lancaster County Super Fair each summer, along with livestock shows and equestrian events, rounds out the calendar.
Construction. New subdivisions on the edges of the city, commercial projects and road work keep job-site rentals steady most of the year.
Permits in Lincoln
Lincoln splits event approvals between departments:
- Parks and Recreation special use permits cover large group activities in city parks, such as corporate picnics and charity walks. Fees depend on the location and event, and the city asks for applications at least 30 days before the event date.
- City special event permits cover events using streets or other public space. Past city guidance has listed an application fee, a bond requirement and roughly four weeks of lead time, so confirm current terms with the city.
- Lancaster County issues its own special events permit for activities outside city limits, with a minimum three-week lead time.
Show restroom and handwashing locations on your site plan, and keep units clear of fire lanes and trail traffic.
Lincoln's weather
Expect hot, sometimes humid summers with powerful thunderstorms, and cold, windy winters. Wind is a real factor on open park lawns and tailgate lots, so ask your provider to anchor units. During heat waves, schedule extra servicing for long events. Winter job sites need antifreeze and snow clearing so trucks can reach the units.
Sizing your rental
Start with one standard unit for every 50 guests over four hours. Increase for:
- Tailgates and parties with alcohol (add roughly 20 percent)
- All-day festivals
- Hot weather
At least one ADA-accessible unit is recommended for any public gathering. Weddings and corporate events often step up to a restroom trailer with sinks, lighting and climate control.
On construction sites, OSHA calls for at least one toilet for up to 20 workers, and one toilet plus one urinal per 40 workers once crews exceed 20.
Typical prices in Lincoln
Rates vary, but generally:
- Standard event units: roughly $100 to $200 each
- Monthly construction units with weekly service: around $110 to $200
- ADA units and handwashing stations: priced separately
- Restroom trailers: commonly from about $900 to $2,000 or more per day
Game-day weekends and short-notice orders can carry premiums.
